It was a dark time for the Church. The hierarchy had split and abandoned the truth. Money was stolen and the most cowardly acts were committed by over 90% of the bishops, including even the pope himself. God was mocked publicly and no one seemed to care. It was not only accepted to mock God, but expected. Hatred and self-centeredness ruled the day. The government was pressured by the people to get rid of God and anyone who believed in Him. Everyone who stayed close to God suffered. They had nothing, except their faith in Him. Despite all of this God was there… the whole time… in complete control of everything.
Then, on the third day, God rose from the dead. He gathered His hierarchy and renewed their faith and courage. He taught them and gave them the Holy Spirit. He promised He would always be with them.
We are now in a dark time, but the light has conquered the darkness and the darkness cannot overcome it. Jesus is here… with us… now… in complete control of everything… only allowing evil if it is for our greater good. His Church is here too, His bride. The gates of Hell will not withstand against her. We are to stay close to Jesus, by His cross, and suffer for Him.
“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you; if they kept my word, they will keep yours also. I have said this to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” -John 15:18-20, 16:33
